100 shipments a month, milestone timeline, map and email alerts
Paste an air waybill number and ShipmentVisibility reads the airline prefix, validates the check digit and follows the shipment from acceptance at origin to delivery at destination. Air freight sits in the same list as your containers, LTL, FTL and parcels, with a predicted ETA, delay alerts and a shareable tracking page for your customer.
Live events, the predicted ETA with its confidence range and the route map open in your account. Delay and exception alerts go to your email.
We are opening live tracking to new accounts in batches. We will email you when live events, the predicted ETA and the route map for your shipments are ready.
We could not match this number to a known format. Check the digits, or choose the mode and carrier by hand.
An air waybill (AWB) number has eleven digits, usually written as three digits, a dash and eight digits. The format is set by IATA and every airline uses it.
| Part | Digits | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Airline prefix | 3 | The IATA accounting code of the airline that issued the AWB, such as 001 for American Airlines, 006 for Delta, 016 for United, 020 for Lufthansa Cargo, 057 for Air France, 074 for KLM, 157 for Qatar Airways and 176 for Emirates. |
| Serial number | 7 | The running number the airline assigns to the waybill. |
| Check digit | 1 | The serial number divided by 7, keeping the remainder, so the check digit is always between 0 and 6. |
For 020 1234567 the remainder of 1234567 divided by 7 is 5, so the full number is 020 12345675. A last digit of 7, 8 or 9 can never be valid, and ShipmentVisibility flags it before you waste a lookup.
A forwarder that consolidates several shippers' goods on one flight books a master air waybill (MAWB) with the airline, and issues a house air waybill (HAWB) to each shipper. The airline only knows the MAWB, which follows the IATA format above. The HAWB uses the forwarder's own numbering and has no standard format. To follow a consolidated shipment, track the MAWB and keep the HAWB as a reference on the shipment, so your team and your customer search by either number.
Airlines report status with standard codes. ShipmentVisibility turns them into plain milestones with time, station and flight number.
Split shipments are common in air freight: part of the pieces fly on one flight and the rest follows. The timeline shows pieces and weight on each event, so a partial arrival never looks like a complete one.
Each airline has its own tracking page, and a forwarder moving your goods may switch carriers at a hub. Checking them one by one means missing the offload that pushes your freight to tomorrow.
| Shipment | Mode | Carrier | Lane | Last event | ETA | Status |

Air moves fast, so the useful alert is the one that arrives before the flight does. You choose the triggers: departure, a missed connection, an offload, arrival at destination, ready for pickup, delivered. Email alerts are on every plan, and Growth adds Slack and webhook alerts. The predicted ETA carries a confidence range and moves with every event, so the receiving dock knows whether to plan for tonight or tomorrow morning. The full list of tools is on real time shipment tracking features and the freight visibility platform page.
Air waybills count toward the monthly limit for parcel, LTL, FTL and air shipments. Limits count shipments added in the billing period, and deleting one never returns quota. Yearly billing saves 50 percent.

Goods that fly often arrive by sea next time. Track ocean freight with bill of lading tracking and the inland delivery with PRO number tracking.
On the air waybill document and on the shipping label of each piece, usually as three digits, a dash and eight digits. Your forwarder also lists it on the booking confirmation.
The last digit must equal the remainder of the seven digit serial divided by 7. A mismatch, or a last digit of 7, 8 or 9, almost always means a typo.
The airline does not know the house AWB, so track the master AWB and save the house number as a reference. You then search and share the shipment by either number.
Notified for delivery. The cargo is at the destination station and the consignee or its agent has been told it is ready for pickup, subject to customs release.
Yes. Each event shows the pieces and weight it covers, so you see when only part of the shipment has arrived.
From Growth, every shipment has a branded tracking page with your logo and colors and a link you can share.
